What we block.
Relayo gets you past the lazy blocks. It does not get you past the ones the law puts there, and this page is honest about where that line sits.
A proxy that pretended it could open anything would be lying to you. Some things stay shut through Relayo, and we would rather tell you why than let you find out on a blank screen.
Adult and age restricted material
Under the Online Safety Act 2023, services that can be reached from the UK have to keep children away from pornography and other adult content. We are not set up to check anyone's age, so rather than wave it all through we block adult and age restricted sites at the proxy. If you are an adult trying to reach one, Relayo is not the tool for it, and that is deliberate.
Anything illegal to access
Material that is illegal to view or hold is blocked outright, with no exceptions and no appeal. That includes child sexual abuse material, which we also report. There is no version of Relayo that helps with this, and there never will be.
Court ordered and safeguarding blocks
Some sites are blocked in the UK by court order, and some blocks exist to keep people safe rather than to be a nuisance. Relayo respects those. We are here for the workplace filter that swallowed half the web, not for undoing a block a judge put in place.
Why not just let everything through
Because a service that ignored the law would not last a week, and because the point of Relayo is narrow and worth protecting. It exists so a blanket filter cannot decide that news, health, or half of Wikipedia is off limits to you. Keeping the genuinely restricted things restricted is what lets us keep doing the rest.
Think we have blocked something wrongly
Filters catch the wrong thing sometimes, and a health page landing in an adult bucket is exactly the sort of mistake we want to fix. Tell us through the contact page with the address and what you expected, and we will look at it.
